EMPOWERING AGRICULTURE – GORDON CONWAY AT THE GLOBAL FORUM FOR FOOD AND AGRICULTURE

GFFAExperts from across the world gathered in Berlin to attend the GFFA to discuss the development of a more resilient and productive agriculture sector.

Gordon Conway and Katrin Glatzel attended the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in Berlin in January. Professor Conway participated in the kick-off event alongside Montpellier Panel member Joachim von Braun(University Bonn), Howard Shapiro (UC Davis, Mars), Ashish Bahuguna(Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, India) and other representatives from Oxfam, GIZ and the GFFA.  Furthermore, he participated in a fascinating panel debate organised by the World Bank discussing climate smart agriculture together with Rachel Kyte (World Bank) and Sonja Vermeulen (CGIAR-CCAFS), amongst others. Professor Conway also sat on the International GFFA panel discussion, discussing the role of GM, family farming and sustainability in agriculture with Liam Condon (Bayer CropScience), Philip von dem Bussche (KWS Saat AG),Maryam Rahmanian (Research Associate at the Centre for Sustainable Development and Environment), Robert Sichinga (Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Zambia ) and Athanasios Tsaftaris (Minister of Agriculture, Greece).
